St Marys-Mt Druitt Star 'Isolated Residents Slam Labor Over Buses'

No Show, no go: While families from all over Sydney will be making their way to the Royal Easter Show this long weekend, Tamara Stevens, pictured with her children and neighbour Fay Cummings, will be stuck at home. Picture: Gene Ramirez

LIFELONG Labor voters in Bidwill say they will turn their backs on the state government in the next election unless their former bus services are restored.

Many Chestnut Crescent residents who rely on public transport will be stranded this Easter.

They have a limited service on Saturday or face a long walk of up to 40 minutes to Luxford Road if they want to go anywhere on Good Friday, Easter Sunday or next Monday.

A Current Affair has filmed the residents' protest and was to air it this week.
Janet Cribbs, 62, a widow, said there were almost 5000 Housing NSW dwellings in Chestnut Crescent and that did not include private housing.

She spent $20.00 on cab fares on Christmas Day to visit her daughter and grandchildren, who also live in Bidwill.

``I've paid taxes all my life, as did my husband before he died.'' Mrs Cribbs said.

``The least we deserve is a proper bus service.

``It's a lifeline for many of us and we're forced into lockdown this weekend.''
Mrs Cribbs said that the Minister for Transport, David Campbell, had declined requests to visit the area.

``It's a slap in the face because he doesn't care,'' Mrs Cribbs said. ``I've lost my confidence in Labor in what they've done to the little people. All we want from them is to give us back our dignity and our lives.''

These people have the support of Hawkesbury Liberal MP Ray Williams, who fired a challenge to local state Labor MPs Richard Amery and Allan Shearan.
``Maybe they should follow in Roger Price's footsteps and retire too,'' he said.

Mr Shearan contacted the Star with promising news for Whalan commuters.
Westbus has proposed a revised 674 route for Gasmata Crescent residents, who have been without a service since October.

The proposal is now in the hands of Blacktown Council, which will decide its fate next month. The revised route will be patrolled for six months if the council agrees to the proposal.

Mount Druitt - St Marys Standard ' New Life For Shopper Hopper Service'

Reporter: Nikolaos Stavrou

Mark Down another victory for the Save Our Bus Services (Sobs) Mt Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs Group.

Sobs Chairman John Svoboda last week told the Mt Druitt-St Marys Standard that the route 674 Shopper Hopper Service was due to be reinstated from April 27.

Six each-way services would run daily Monday to Friday, with two daily each-way services on Saturday and one each-way services on Sundays.

Mr Svoboda stressed the route was still to be approved by Blacktown Council, but the service would be a major step forward for residents.

"it's going to make a lot of people very happy," he said.

" We don't know the specific time and they'll probably have gaps (where there'll be no buses) but we can always work that out later on.

"This service will even cater for the people of the western end (of Gasmata Crescent), up near Whalan Reserve."

Mr Svoboda said the service would run from Windsor to Mount Druitt,

From Luxford Road ( after Waikanda Crescent), it will turn right into Gasmata Crescent and right into Moresby Crescent.

Then it will turn right into Samarai Road, right into Luxford Road and then onto Mount Druitt.

From the chairperson: only thing that needs to changed is 'Turn left into Samarai Road'!

NSW Transport Minister Wanted To Pull The Plug On The Bidwill Story That Went On Air On Channel 9, Yesterday!

It is amazing how politicians want to play their games. When they take away complete or incomplete bus services and provide the community with or two services - leaving disharmony with the rest of the community.

I was shocked to hear today that the minister of transport wanted us to pull out our true story of buses around Bidwill, Mount Druitt from the Channel Nine News. If he didn't want us to go national - then he should have returned full bus services to Mount Druitt. Even the bus services returned are not full services as prior to 11/10/2009.

Come on where is the common sense ? What are your local members of parliament tell you Mt Campbell? don't they want the full services returned to the people ( the bus services they took away from us)! Then you have the hide to try to stop want the people of Mount Druitt want return from them - what you ripped out of their lives!

We as group cam e to visit you and we did not get all of what we wanted for the community - you have to under each on of us will represent at least 10 to twenty community members that we know and they of those 10 to twenty community members they represent the same and so on and so on. get the message we mean business when we represent the people of the Mount Druitt community. We are not taking any steps back. We are all going forward.

I for got to say that congratulations goes to both Debbie Robertson and Ray Williams not tp stiop our news Item! that was a tremendous decision! The whole of Mount Druitt waqs right behind you withn that decsion!

Minister Tells Bidwill Residents To Walk During Easter!

After a news item on Channel Nine last night where community rewidents showed their anger and disgust on 4 days of no bus services on Easter Holidays - we had the Minister of Transport and Roads aprovide some healthy advice.,'Walk'!

He says there are bus services nearer to Chestnut Crescent to get. ,Maybe before making a comment like this walk the mile like me last Sunday - he is not interested in making life easier for the Bidwill community. Let them walk - some up to half an hour walk. Maybe he will be taking more walks himself nexr year!

Young SOBS Group Member With New Bus Route Ideas

We have an an exciting young new group member who has presented his new bus route ideas to us (with his permission).

Blake has placed a lot of effort into producing his report and presented it with suck colourful images - also representing rates of bus services per route - inclusive of free shuttle service to Mount Druitt hospital - looped. one of the intriguing aspects of Blake's bus routes they go far and wide from Castle Hill to Liverpool and west to Penrith.

If anyone is interested in view contact us and we will advise you further!

This is what Mount Druitt needs the young generation create ideas to rejuvenate the area! I'm all for new ideas- aren't you!

I've Walked The Sunday Mile!

Yes, today I was working at Parramatta and had to reach around 8.45am. That was the easy part of travelling.

What I have confirmed that other members of Mount Druitt community and group members say is that there are hardly any bus services that leave before 7am in the morning on Sundays. Although I have three options to get bus services that is Busways 755 & 758 and Westbus 780 - not one of them accommodate myself ion getting the trains at 7.33am . Guess what I had to walk. I walked the mile and another mile!

This is thanks to the NSW Government that doesn't provide proper bus services on Sunday. The earliest train that leaves Mount Druitt is 4.05am. there are no bus service to meet commuters to the station until about 3 1/2 hours later. No wonder people can't get jobs, they can't get buses to get to the jobs.

When will the NSW government understand that within Mount Druitt - we have gone backwards in life instead of going forward and promoting more commuters to get onto private/public buses and public trains reducing pollution content in our atmosphere.

I only have to work once on one off Sundays and am reasonably fit to walk the distance to Mount Druitt Train Station but I worry about others that have to walk further and long distances to get to the same place or are inept of obtaining work for their future and assist their finances - let's work on reverting back to reasonable timetables that bring required infrastructure together!

Western Sydney 2030 - Not Much On Buses!

We have found a website which is concerned of everyday lively hood of our population for the future. Provided is the basics as to they are on about:

Western Sydney is a patchwork of people and communities, reflecting much of Australia's diversity and experience.

From towns nestled in a World Heritage Area to agricultural lands, industrial areas, low and medium density residential areas, and major business centres, Western Sydney residents hail from the four corners of the globe, bringing to Sydney and Australia a diversity of cultural and personal experiences.

It's about time we all had a say in how our lives and communities will be in twenty years' time and beyond. That's why Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) has created this website to allow the people who live in Western Sydney to put forward a vision for how Western Sydney should be in 2030.

Through this web site we are asking people to tell us of their hopes, dreams and aspirations for the future. Our expert panel will turn that information into an integrated picture of what life could be like in Western Sydney.

That way the people of Western Sydney will be able to see clearly whether or not policy proposals and promises made by politicians will make life better or not.
Here is a link to their website- where you can answer a quick survey:
This is a good reason why we as a group have have fought for the people of Mount Druitt. Where bus services were removed or deleted from our community by political decisions that took us to the dark ages of when bus services were firstly and introduced with the area. I personally think that political decisions were made not from the heart and they know Mount Druitt people would be easy - they will not complain they will accept the extreme change of services.
What the politicians didn't realise is that people have feelings and emotions and once you take away essential services from every day lives - you have just downgraded these people's lives, in some cases lives changed not knowing what to do, adding costs and time to get to their destinations. We as a group are upgrading people's lives to where they should be today, we will even go further and ensure the politicians affect the lives of Mount Druitt dramatically!
My added comments on buses:
John Svoboda -Chairp 2010-03-27 03:54
AS Chairperson of a group trying to return bus services removed /deleted from within Mount Druitt - I think the government has gone backward - the plan should be now to increase bus services not wait for a long time for this to happen - The community needs proper transport and we need to promote more car off the road get community members into cheaper public/private transport - this also brings make the air less pollutant as well - less fumes in the air!Reply Reply with quote Quote
There wasn't much on buses but we can move ahead from here!

Westbus 780 Bus Driver Agrees With Us And Cares Of Our Community

This evening when I cam back home on the Westbus 780 bus at around 8.30pm, I was talking to a Gasmata Resident and explained to them of the pending new service. This man said he would come over to our group meeting on 10th April.

The bus driver obviously overheard what I said and then said he agrees with our group that buses must be provided to all parts of the community especially the elderly - who he sees walks around the community struggling with walking - buses make life easier for people, for all people. The driver was stating what can you do about kids - it is hard to change them when they are young - even we were young once!

IT is so great to hear when drivers care of the community!

We Say 'Thank You!' To Westbus Windsor

One of the most important things we would like to say with the introduction of the pending 674 Wesrtbus services is to Thank the management of Westbus Windsor, for their tedious work in providing a positive result for the people of Mount Druitt.

They have a job to do and they are only dictated by the NSW Government as to what services can be provided but the real suggestions and ideas comes from the bus operaters jointly with the Ministry of Transport. They have to manage their bus drivers as well as ensure there are plenty of bus services running catering to the community. We give our hats to them as they have now decided that the community comes first with services and their bus drivers safety is first as well. Good on you!

I have heard whilst Allan Shearan has been trying to run to the press to waive his flag and give himself credit - he was totaly confused when he advised on the of the local press newspapers it was a Busways bus service going into Gasmata Crescent - we have corrected his statement to that local newspaper - again he needs to get his facts right!

2nd Service Returns - Gasmata Buses Are Coming Back Pending COuncil Approval!

Yes, this is the the 2nd bus services that the NSW Government has realised should be reintroduced within the Mount Druitt community. This morning i was going to provide our group's resolution to the representative from Westbus Windsor, when I was stopped on the resolution idea advised that Allan Shearan has popped out of the woods (probably because of the letter that he sent to the Whalan community last month), management representatives from Westbus , Saftey Managers and there is an agreeable route that is is in the pipeline that meets all safety issues.

Here it is from what we were told:
From Luxford Road after Waikanda Crescent, turn right into Gasmata Crescent, turn right into Moresby Crescent, and right into Samarai Road, then continuing by turning right into Luxford Road at the corner of Samarai and Luxford Roads - then onto Mount Druitt and reverse for the return trip. This is now pending bus stops to be considered on the new route - minimum 200 metres distance between each bus stop. The negative is - it is not a full service - it is the Shopper Hopper Service - 6 services per day, each way Monday to Friday and 2 services per day each way on Saturdays and one each way, each Sundays.

Yes this is a big win for Save Our Bus Services Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs and mostly for the community that live around the Gasmata Crescent - Congratulation to all - all you people deserve all the credit not the local member who took away the bus services!

We we will, have a group meeting on 10th April 2010 to discuss this issue and other issues are that are pending or need to be addressed. The Mount Druitt community can now see that we can get things done to restore life's important transport services to where at least it was before - it is not going on the same route as before for reasons but now caters for residents in the far west of Whalan that had a long walk to get to the bus services - it may even create more community members to get bus to their destination. The bus route is Westbus 674 which is now looking to commence on 27th April 2010, pending Blacktown City Council Approval for bus route and bus new bus stops.!

Well done to the Mount Druitt community you are all lovely people! Each and every one of you!

Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson Supports Us At Blacktown City Council

Although group members Debbie ( Hon. Secretary and represents Shalvey) Janet (representing Bidwill) and myself attended Blacktown City Council meeting last night to support Bidwill and other suburbs for buses. Tonight I was the only community member that spoke on behalf of our group and also the entire Blacktown Community.

On the Trafiic Agenda Busways representative has recommended a new bus stop on the corner of Sedgman Crecent and Luxford Road and the other issue was Gasmata Traffic conditions:

After inspection council approval of a median island in Gasmata Crescent at its approach to Luxford Road has previously been approved by Council and is funded in the current Works Improvement programme. The median will improve traffic conditions by channelising the vehicles on a right angle to Luxford Road. Additionally it also will prevent vehicles cutting corners when turning from Luxford Road. Recommendations of Gasmata Crescent and Luxford Road intersection meets safe distance requirements and the traffic conditions will be reassessed once the median island is constructed.Council claims that RTA would provide a low priority for the intersection : 2 recorded accidents 23/3/07 and 9/8/2008 only injury occured.

We have received an e-mail from Jacqueline Donaldson confirming her sole support for our group:

Hi John I have put in Councillor requests on all the matters raised at the meeting last Saturday and moved the motion that urgent deputation be made to the Bus companies and the Minister regarding reinstatement of the Bidwill bus and at least over Easter period.

We thank you for your continual support.‏

New Suggestion For Shalvey Buses

Our group representative Angie has brought up to us a new suggestion to resolve bus issues around Shalvey.

Angie is another quality member who struggles to get to places with new services.

The idea is for bus to turn in from Mount Druitt from Luxford Road left into Siandra Avenue, turn right into Koomooloo Crescent and then left into Sedgman Cescent, thus missing the Segman crescent overpass that has the rock throwing issues. According to Angie - buses used to travel this way before. - we will look into this for her as well!

Any feedback will be appreciated!

Allan Shearan Will Not Apologise For Misleading Community

Today we have the quiet Member for Londonderry, Mr Allan Shearan - now meeting with Westbus Windsor after making that misleading statement on a rushed community letter to give himself credit for bus services that were taken away by his NSW Government (refer to our article dated 4/3/10):

'It is pleasing that buses will return to Gasmata Crescent.....'

According to Mr Shearan's spokesman today, Mr Shearan will not write a letter of apology and he said he hasn't said anything wrong - maybe letters from Mr Shearan's office should be edited first before released whilst trying to present an image of 'I did it" not 'Save Our Bus services, Mount Druitt and Surrounding Suburbs'! - Mr Shearan the Whalan community especially the ones afftected by all bus services will remember you for taking them away!

The community is not stupid, they understand how it works. Do not underestimate the value of people within your community. People know of our Group (and in fact you did attend one of our initial group Meetings) and since then you are hiding from us! Don't forget we have placed the Gasmata Isuue via Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson on the Blacktown Council Agenda - what have you done - nothing and you only come out for glory!

''Bidwill Deadline Looming" A Great Focus Article From Mount Druitt St Marys Standard

RESIDENTS FACING ISOLATION BY LAREN MURABA

Bidwill residents ho rely on public transport will be isolated over the Easter long weekend.

The problem was raised at a meeting of Save Our Bus Services (sobs)Mt Druitt an Surrounding Suburbs group on Saturday.

Committee member Deb Robertson said that because bus services do not run to the suburb on public holidays, Bidwill will be cut off over the long weekend.

"For the Easter period they won't have any buses whatsoever," she said,"We'll be writing letters( to the transport minister), many to do with the weekend bus services at Bidwill and the fact that right throughout the 2770 postcode weekend services no longer exist and we want our services back."

The group will meet this morning to highlight the matter. All members of the public are welcome to come.

The group will meet at11am Bidwill community Gardens, Chestnut Crescent.

Sobs is trying to fight for the return of a service to Gasmata Cres Whalan.

Inspite Londonderry state labor MP Allan Shearan promise to Whalan residents in late February, bus services have yet to return to the street.

A Westbus spokesman said the matter are still under review.

;Westbus recently met (Mr) Shearan, and is working to resturn services the Gasmata Crescent area, taking into account driver safety issues," he said.

According to Sobs Chairman John Svoboda, a rock throwing incident and a blind corner at Luxford Road and Gasmata Cres were the problems.

'I'm concerned he's saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. It's not good saying something until it really happens," he said.

Mr Shearan was unavailable yesterday when the Mount Druitt St Marys Standard tried to contact him to comment on the matter.

The next Sobs meeting will be on April 20 at the Holy family Centre, Emerton and is open for the public.

Busways 'No Zone' For Myzone New Bus And Rail Tickets

It appears although new tickets machines that have recently been installed in Buswayas buses - can not take the 'Myzone' tickets - drivers will have to mark tickets manually until Buswways decide to upgrade the ticket machines.

This will be a costly time delay - let's hope this doesn't make people late to get to their destinatiion!

Busways Driver on Free Shuttle From Blacktown Station to Westfields Blacktown Appreciates Our Group

This makes me happy when you here a single bus driver who was very pleasant speaking to me about how he appreciates people like myself to represent the public community.

He seemed to agree that Bidwill requires bus services on Sundays and also public holidays. If you take Easter for example, Bidwill will have a holiday from getting buses for 4 days of that period of time - it a very hard task for a majority of Bidwill residents to walk up to Luxford to get the nearest bus on these days - especially when the former Premier was promoting family fun days - not fun if you struggle just to get public transport which should be made readily available for all commuters.

We thank the management of Busways for have inspirational bus driver that compliment their customers support group!

Channel Nine: Film Community Residents At Bidwill Gardens, Chestnut Crescent Bidwill

Who would think in today's world that the TV media press would be interested in good nature stories like our true stories that people have been severely affected? Ten years ago no one, two years ago no one and today totally believe.

Mount Druitt has been notoriously known as a bad area - where bad stories and bad things happen. Crime is on the rise, the children aren't properly education in the past, the people do not all work or have at all worked!

Well, this has all changed to the Bus Time table change implemented by the NSW Government, authorised by NSW by the premier of the day, Minister of Transport, and local members of State Government for Londonderry and Mount Druitt. Not to forget the decision makers; Blacktown City Council, Bus operaters and the Ministry of Transport.

We have community members that can fight and get back what was taken away from them and without their permission, We have dedicated group members that support each and every other area in and around Mount Druitt. we have the support base from the local press to one local Blacktown councillor, outside State Members to the local press whom all understand our cause.

So today we had what the entire Mount Druitt community wanted at the end of November 2009 was for the bus issues to be brought upo to the attention of the TV Press - at Bidwill Community Gardens, Chestnut Crescent, Bidwill - about 40-50 people at tented the TV Coverage and expressed their views and dissatisfaction against the NSW Government and its representatives. THe member for Hawkesbury, Mr. Ray Williams attended the meeting and also arrange for the press to come to our suburb. We expect that it will be shown on the news time within the next week!

Thank you Mount Druitt members for attending!

I've got that channel nine feeling!

University Student Ready To Interview Us For Our True Stories

It is very pleasing to have received an e-mail invitation from a student news reporter - who would like to report on our group, our true stories on behalf of the people of Mount Druitt.

We are pleased to accept the offer so that the true way people have felt and how some others will be feeling regarding the affect of severing and deleting bus services. It is obviously something that is pleasing to do on behalf of the community.

We want the people to be heard. The people want to represent them to be heard. Cheers will fill the streets once all services are returned!

So the more this gets out to the press the more the people can be heard, the more the NSW Government and it's representatives can be more sympathetic rather than pathetic!

People will vote from the heart at the next election and they will remember who had taken away their bus services and how long they took with our group main lobbying to bring back one main service. Unheard of in many areas. e do mean business for our community we will not stop until our community is very happy! Vote One the community!

Article 'SMH' Newspapers - Regarding Bus Operaters Refusal To Go Down Small Streets

Fair Work inquiry into bus drivers' route bans ANDREW WEST TRANSPORT
November 14, 2009

BUS drivers in western Sydney face prosecution by the Federal Government's industrial relations umpire for refusing to drive on streets where hooligans throw rocks at passing vehicles and have assaulted passengers.

Despite support from police, and the sympathy of bus company managers, the Fair Work Australia Ombudsman is investigating drivers for allegedly violating work agreements by imposing ''route bans''.

The issue is set to explode at this weekend's NSW Labor conference, when the Transport Workers Union is expected to take the issue directly to the Deputy Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, who oversees the ombudsman's office. Ms Gillard is scheduled to address the conference tomorrow morning.

A spokesman for the ombudsman, Craig Bildstein, confirmed the agency was investigating staff at Busways, who have imposed bans on Discovery Avenue in Willmot and Sedgman Drive and Emerson Road in Shalvey.

''The Fair Work Ombudsman has received complaints alleging several instances of unlawful industrial action by bus drivers employed by Busways,'' Mr Bildstein told the Herald. ''The investigation is ongoing and I cannot comment further at this stage.''

Busways management did not return the Herald's call but last year a Busways manager said if attacks continued, ''we will seriously consider a ban''.

Tony Sheldon, the national secretary of the Transport Workers Union, which represents drivers, said his members were not in a dispute over pay or conditions but were trying to protect their own safety and passengers.

''The Ombudsman's office have told us they are not concerned about safety issues,'' '' he said. ''But if rock throwing, or bus drivers being assaulted, means they cannot refuse to drive down a street where it is constantly happening, then no worker has any rights in Australia over safety.''

The NSW Police Association has supported the drivers' decision to avoid dangerous streets. ''It is perfectly reasonable for drivers to put bans on streets where it is unsafe,'' the association's secretary, Peter Remfrey, said. Parts of western Sydney and regional NSW have become no-go zones for drivers in the past four years.

In August 2006, bus drivers, the TWU and representatives of the Ministry of Transport agreed to withdraw some bus services in the Penrith and Blacktown areas.

In January last year, a driver narrowly avoided being hit by a bottle in Wilmot, while four other drivers were robbed by assailants wielding knives or syringes. Two months later, four rock attacks on buses over two days in Campbelltown led to a review of routes.

In 2007, a series of rock-throwing incidents, and a robbery in Mount Druitt in which an assailant placed a gun to the head of a driver, provoked the first ban on routes.

Mr Sheldon said the Ombudsman's investigation over a safety issue would create a backlash in the community.

''I can only think they are trying to set up the Federal Government,'' he said.

TV Crew Comes To Mount Druitt To Save Our Bus Services

Well, yes it is true - we finally have the best news ever that our group could have to promote our cause.

You ask yourself what is it - it is what the community wanted from the Community meeting we had at Mount Druitt Dawson Mall on 29th November 2009. it was a national Film crew coming to Mount Druitt.

Yes, we received one service back after asking for many more services to be re-introduced around the area> Yes, we had the State MP's for Mount Druitt and Londonderry runs round and they they were the one's that instituted the return of the 755 bus service. Yes, the People of Mount Druitt are on the way of getting their lives back to normal. Yes, people of Mount Druitt can not and will not be taken for a ride so that infrastructure can be deteriorated - providing less services than what should be required.

No way cutting bus services will make anybody happy. No way NSW Government communicated direct to the public via forums in Mount Druitt before riding essential services required by the community. NO way, governments can just take away what is not there's!

So if anyone is interested regarding being involved as a community contact Debbie on the above contact phone numbers for more details!

Group Meeting 20/2/10 - Fight On!

One of the most important things I like of our group is each and everyone brings in experience and quality providing great ideas and suggestions - which keeps the heart of our group keep on fighting on for the community members.

We are still working on proceeding pending issues on Gasmata Crescent and Shalvey - inclusive on working for Bidwill's service that is non-existent on Sundays and limited during on Saturdays - and this seems to be the predominant underlying issue within most of Mount Druitt bus services.

With Gasmata - our of our group members Warwick, provided a great suggestion for the 755 to continue from Luxford Road(To Mount Druitt) turn right after Waikanda to Gasmata Crescent and then instead of turning right into Luxford Road, turn left into Luxford Road and then turn into Bulolo Drive continuing the 755 route.

In relation to stone throwing to place on buses anti shatter windows on buses or something similar. Thia might solve the the entire problem for safety issues alleviating the most important ones that concerns the residents in Shalvey for West of Sedgman Crescent.

The NSW Government, beaucrats and bus operaters think that obringing back one service is enough. It's a giant step in the right direction - yet complete returned services is what the Mount community want. We are fighting on until all services are returned!

I Thought I Was Going Back Home On Westbus 780!

On the corner of Buolo Drive and Luxford Road today I caught the Westbus 780 heading towards Mount Druitt.

Well I was on the way to work to Parramatta when the Westbus 780, had the sign 'Tregear Only'. I advised the driver kindly and he didn't reply buet chnaged the sign immediately.

When we reached Mount Druitt I checked the sign on the bus it was correct, 'M'!ount Druitt

Happier Community Members! And More Happier Community Members To Come!

The more people I speak too the more are happy that the 755 service has been returned. Although the full service is not returned!

Smiles seem to stretch from face to face - they know what our group was the main reason that got the buses bus back and they are wondering why at first were the bus services taken away from us? Well that is a question only the decision makers can make. Who makes the decision - we all know who has the final say!

Yet it shows the decision was wrong to take away these services - it shows for 5 months we should have the services kept. It appears that maybe by the year 2030 our population around Mount Druitt will double. If this is the case why remove services that break entire peoples heart. In fact, the services should have been left permanently running whilst thought and care should have been made to bringing and place extra bus services new routes.

If we can get one bus service back there a good chance we will get more bus services back. That what our group \'s main aim is about!

Required ' Community Involvement For Children' - Stops Them Running Amock In the Streets - Making Extremely Safer For The Community And Bus Drivers

My views on keeping children away from streets (unless necessary), streams back to my young days. I might be a little old fashioned in some of my thoughts - but some of the old fashioned ideas that were in place - have just been forgotten - leaving the type of society we have today.

My parents kept me within my own compound unless required to do shopping chores locally. The rules were only for myself to do these errands during daytime, no time time walking around (for no reason), especially at night.

Now I have seen and experienced children at 16- 18 years walking around in groups at night time sometimes just walking on the streets itself not on footpaths - sometimes alcohol in their hands - where signs deter the use of alcohol on streets.

It is suggested that children should be kept busy at home with the assistance of parents and/or guardians via home work (provided by the schools), encouraged to study or read educational readings of self-interest, encourage a hobby or interest.

Government and community groups have a responsibility towards our youths by inviting them to take up interest in different community groups, so they expand their local experience in the wider community. This could be joining group like ours so that the young will be heard and paid attention. This could be taking up an interest in a type of after school support which creates encouragement in participation of sport of your own interest. This could be getting involved in community fairs, youth groups, that support the youth around the area - the list can go on - the idea is not to allow children to endanger the community by any means whatsoever in fact it is to enhance and improve the community as a whole.

What could Governments do - promote initiatives to get children involved through schools , community groups, sporting bodies of any other interest organisation that is recommended to enhance the and provide a better quality of life through voluntary programs. Keep the children interested - don't let them out of our sight as they may be lead astray by peer group pressure.

I also believe in curfews after 10pm at night for childreb up to 18 years unless they are accompanied by a parent, guardian or senior adult. Why should we allow 13-14 years walking around at night by themselves. I understand in the old days police officers used to pick up children roaming the streets and drive them back to their home - so that they were in peacde and not disturbing the peace - this maybe difficult for police to do today!

At the end our community benefits, bus driver would have a safer ride of no fear and lastly the individual youth will have a better understanding of a good life!

Our Group Exists Because Of And For The People of Mount Druitt

When I look over our journey to where we are today, we have mapped Mount Druitt properly on the international atlas. What do I mean by that - Mount Druitt is not known for good stories of real lives living around our suburbs and any success that the community or individuals have.

I remember a few years ago when I went to a save 'Mount Druitt Hospital function' and was told after the meeting by a leading bureaucrat 'You bastards, you stopped Doctors coming to the hospital because of your protest!' I was a no-one and I cannot forget the response I made to this high shot looking bureaucrat (earning possibly $100,000-$150,000 per annum income), ' Well you should make decisions to close part or all of the Mount Druitt Hospital and this protest would not have happened!' There was community outrage! He went back to sipping his tea with his peer group of decision makers.

Now, it appears I have taken a leading role to return back to the Mount Druitt community what has been misleadingly taken away. We hear of population increases for the future and how do we cater for future increased transport infrastructure? I took this community leadership role unbeknown that the community needs people like myself and the group members that ares supportive with me - our group has never been dismantled and doesn't have factions - like political parties. Our group has community members that are raising the flag for their own bus services and they also wave the flag for the entire bus services that have been deleted.

Our strength is growing in local support from nine initial group members to approximately forty members - yet every group member can count for at least ten community members they know of that they speak too and so on and so on. We survive without the support from local State members, we go on local tuition, knowledge and quality local community members who have had similar dealings before. In fact I am not the main person that needs to be accredited with any returned service - it is the community people of Mount Druitt that deserve all acceptations, the quality group members that have given their time, advice and lend their expertise to get to where we are today. All of us do travel on buses around Mount Druitt and now we all travel differently to get to places - even finding it difficult to reach the new bus stop.

So our journey doesn't stop - our buses do not stop and get the buses to move on to make the community move on to their places of destination.

Someone told me today (not living in our area)the Government doesn't provide public transport to make a profit - it provides public transport to cater for the desired public needs and wants. I am so proud of the community people of Mount Duitt and will represent them in the best possible way I can with the great support around me! Let's bring back the buses!

The 'Young' Within Our Community Area Are Concerned Of Bus Services Around Mount Druitt!

It amazes me who is affected by these former deleted bus services. In our group there may be an average age of around 50 years of age - I would like to lower that by inviting the young of the community to our Group Meeting - we should not exclude young children who are affected.

As a response of our last story , we have another young person interested to join our group who has bus service issues! The word is definitely spreading around good local community from all ages wish to get the bus back!

Let's all support the community we represent and make more people happy!

Community Interests Builds Up Further For Return Of Buses!

It is very interesting the amount of different people that I am quite comfortable to talk to and meet on a day to day basis.

These are ordinary every day people that survive and use the public transport system. Today, I had met a young university student living around Gasmata Crescent who is aware of the issues surrounding the Gasmata community and has a couple solutions problems we have around the area - for one thing he is young and was keen to join our group for meeting on 20/3/10 and bring input to a group that is celebrating success.

Having young people to join out group would be great as it is hard to involve young people in a people group type of activity - and maybe that itself maybe one solution to the problem.

Earlier on in the week I met Michele on my bus stop and she is also young and keen to join our group as a young person as well - I feel we don't seem to give the young people a chance to get involved - they may find it inferior that young people can join active community groups. e welcome people that want to join the group!

Another buck passing way of dealing with issues! We will pursue direct with the premier as she said she will take a stance with transport and infracture when she became Premier - but now it appears she doesn't want to do that!

Save Our Bus Services, Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs - Travels On!

Last night about half a dozen of us met to discuss our future plans - one of many issues we agreed on was we will not 'give up'.

We all agree the overall issue is the total deletion of bus services that we need and want to be re-introduced. Although, a major bus service was re-introduced by the hard campaigning of people power directly from the Mount Druitt Community via our group, success wwas imminent as we didn't give up! We pursued the passionate cause - we want people to be happy again. The nus service introduced is not the full or identical services that we had before - yet people are satisfied we have it. We will look at chnages for this service with the next bus review.

When we look at all micro areas that need to be attended too, we are looking at Gasmata Crescent Whalan, Sedgman Crescent Crescent Shalvey and Chestnut Crescent Bidwill. these are the next three areas we will pursue, once these are reinstated or resolved we will pursue other areas that need immediate attention as well.

Our group membership is increasing as we hope to have a great roll up of member's at our group meeting on 20th March 2010. Contact us if you wish to come to our meeting via Debbie's details on our website!

We ghave decided to care for the community's interest and carrying our flag for the community. It is seems to unheard of that a community like ours had a part bus service returned with the direct aid of local members of Parliament. Well done community of Mount Druitt.

Busways Driver Apologetically Confused!

This morning when I caught he approx 6.15am 755 bus service at Bulolo Drive, Whalan -the lady bus driver asked is she on the correct street for this route?

I confidentially advised that it is the correct street or should she have gone straight down Luxford Road. I think she had not been given instructions from the Busways operators and she may have been a new bus driver that hadn't done that route before the service was deleted last year!

Thank God her instincts were correct.

Group Members from Gasmata Not 'Fooled'

Have spoken to two of our four members from Gssmata area and they are not fooled with the letter received from Alla Shearan regarding buses along Gasmata crescent.

In fact one of the group members spoke to Rory from Allan Shearan's office and there were a lot a lot of 'Uhmms.... and Ahhhs! I think Allan has realised thinking he is the first to say the buses will be going doing Gasmata Crescent - he wants to be the bearer of bad new =s - i hope for his sake as well the as the community's it is approved - yet if it doesn't will he the bearer of bad news and send a letter to all community members apologising?

We will wait and see!

Update on bus services

Late Friday afternoon spoke to Minister of Transport assistant regarding the ongoing issues with the new bus services. She was very helpful and advised that both the 758and 755 will definitely be staying.Sedgeman Cres, Shalvey and Gasmata Cres, Whalan are ongoing due to safety issues from drivers. We the community do very much understand that safety of drivers and passengers are of the utmost of importance and are sure that with everyone working together there will be a solution agreed upon by all involved as soon as possible. We were also asked to forward on any other concerns which we will do. Below are the next targets-

In Bidwill the loss of the 762/61 has had a huge impact on the elderly, workers, school kids and parents with young children particularly in Chestnut Cres, Bidwill and the elderly living in residential units on Luxford Rd, Bidwill. Also schoolkids have lost there service and cant access Mt Druitt High and we have recently been informed that school kids cant access Bidwill High as the 755 no longer goes down Carlisle Ave, Bidwill.

If there are any other issues regarding bus service changes we would like to hear from you.

'Double Whammy' For Bulolo Drive, Whalan

After having the bus services completely removed from Bulolo Drive, Whalan 11/10/09, we have got 2 bus services running up and down the street.

Yes the re-introduced 755 Busways bus service which will recommence bus journeys along Bulolo drive as from 1/3/2010 and the continue Shopper hopper Westbus 674. According to the spokesman at Westbus they have not been given instructions to remove services from Bulolo Drive as yet!

This could be pay back to the community what was taken away! A small gift to the community until 674 is taken away.

Thanks from EcoTransit For 755 Bus Route

WE have received an e-mail via WSTUG from Ecotransit that 'Send them our congratulations on a job well done!LM'

Details of Ecotransit:

The Ecological Transport Information Tool (EcoTransIT) is an Internet tool that compares the environmental impacts of goods transported by different modes within Europe. EcoTransIT compares the energy consumption, greenhouse gas and exhaust emissions of freight transported by rail, road, ship and aircraft. It also takes into account intermodal transport services, the characteristics of the transported goods and the different technical standards of the vehicles.

Blacktown City Council Regarding Re-Introduction Of Bus Service On Gasmata Crescent

I have tonight received a letter from the Senior Traffic management Officer of Blacktown City Council advising that 'The matte of the bus routes and bus services is under the care and control of NSW Transport And Infrastructure and will forward the matter to the authority for its investigation and appropriate response to us direct. Council has requested for a copy of the Authority's response.'

This should confirm to Allan Shearan that the Gasmata Crescent Bus has not been approved to run as yet and even on the 23/2/10!

Congratulations To Busways 'Joanne'

On Monday I spoke to Joanne about Time table issues on bus stops along Bulolo Drvive, I mean there was none at all!

By yesterday - the job was done along Bulolo Drive!

I believe Mr Andrew Glass from Busways checks this website from Busways - congratulations to Joanne - to take initiative and help our community.

"Great To See 755 Busways Drivers Again!"

Today when I got on the bus on Bulolo Drive - I complimented the Busways driver for stopping around the corner from Luxford Road (as the bus was running a bit late). I was walking to the corner bus stop - short of reaching there!

Then a lady who knew Debbie said say, 'Thank you to Debbie and her group for getting the bus back, she lived on the Emerton side of Popondetta Road and said this was the first time she got the bus since the time tables were changed 11/10/2009 as she had to rely on other unreliable transport to get her to doctors etc. She was so delighted when she departed from the bus the prowled warm 'congratulations to all drivers!' I gave her Debbie's phone number for her to contact DEbbie and forward her congratulations to her!

I also thanked the driver and requested that it is reflected that to the Busways Management in Blacktown. Then I got off a bus - a Busways driver that knows me and is always pleasant - say to me - 'you must be happy that the 755 is back?' 'I replied I am - it was hard work without help from most politicians and I redirected the the question to him that he must be happy himself as there would be many happy faces catching buses now'

'He replied there so many happy faces thanking drivers and Busways for driving back on the 755 route - it makes less people rude and unkind - more polite and kind! It was also stated that the 758 had a lot of passengers getting buses a- this will aliate the heavy patronage on this service - and provide better services around the area!

I agreed as the joy is in the hearts that things were taken away from them, unbeknown!

Allan Shearan Possably Misleading With His Community Letter To Community Members

Referring to the letter that we wrote on letter from Allan Shearan, it appears Mr. Allan Shearan has just the gun for announcing on this letter the following word, 'It is pleasing that buses will return to Gasmata Crescent.....'

I personally rang The Westbus representative at Windsor from Westbus to congratulate him on his his company and drivers taking the lead to bring the buses down Gasmata Crescent!

He was astounded as he wasn't told and once told he has organise the drivers to go down the street - he advised that the State Member for Londonderry, Mr Allan Shearan was wrong as they are still in discussions. He obviously wasn't happy that someone was trying to 'political point score' By being the the first cab off the rank to pre-announce what has not been done as yet - the community will be mislead.

I then took the liberty to contact Allan Shearan's office and spoke to Rodney stated he just came back from leave and don't know what was happening with the letter - he advised after cheking that there are still mmeting between Westbus and Blacktown Council - asked Rodney will Mr Shearan send a letter of apology for possably misleading the community - he mumbled and grumbled, ' I will refer to Mr. Shearan!'

When asked why Mr Shearan has spoken or call myself for the last few months all there was was alot of silence! Probably what Mr. Shearan should do now in to chnge his letter sent to the community! The Gasmata bus is not running today and wasn't even runing on your letter dated 23/2/10 - everybody knew that except you!

We expect a letter box dropping of apologies where all your community letters were sent! Respect the community - by the way you have quoted on your letter that Save our Bus Services, Mount Druid And Surrounding Suburbs was the main group that got the buses back - please do so in future correspondence! Do not hide our group name from your future corro, please! People are asking why aren't you recognising our group on theese letters?

'CHRIST MISION POSSIBLE' Helping Children For Bus Safety

Today I was handed a leaflet from two christian people that represented a group called
'Christ Mission Possible' that provides food and prayers for the community around Mount Druitt. Tonight they were meeting at Whalan Shops providing food between 7-8pm outside Whalan Shops,

Allyson Akkary advised myself she will pray for the children round the area not to stone throw buses that are introduced into new areas. Her phone number for contact is 0425236601. We thank them for their help.

Our Group Is Being Requested To Help Others Around Sydney

Yes, it is true on one of the airwaves of Syndey, it was quoted by one of the audiences, 'That since we have returned services in Mount Druitt - can our group help other groups around Sydney to get the same reults we got! Especially around San Souci Area!

I now realise that although I was forseeking a win but in the distant future - others around were not even seeing a win for us and the community as they obviously here of community groups or advocacy groups usually do not get what they want even after years of campaigning!

So there many good things that have come out of the returned bus service:
1) Respect of the people that live In and all around Mount Druitt.
2) Placing Suburbs on the Map - letting the wider community know of suburbs
greatly affected.
3) Created the State Politicians to split from our group and let us campaign on
our own.
4) An inexperienced community Chairperson taking his position as an important
passionate role with the community only for the benefit of the community not
for the the Chairperson.
5) As group we have all fantastic quality people from the community, most of
them are experienced representatives of their community. We had grown from
nine members to approximately thirty members so far.
6) The executive of our Group being Joan, Debbie (in the beginning Sonyia)and
myself - surrounded by talent.

Community Member Stranded Waiting For 755 - 2 Months Ago

Although there is a return of the Busways 755, people all over Mount Druitt are congratulation our group for standing up against local State Members, taking a stand as it is few and far between that 'People powered groups' get positive results.

As one community lady Michelle advised myself - about 2 months ago elderly man was waiting on the southern side of Bulolo Road corner of Bulolo Drive and Luxford road for 2 hours one day - waiting for the 755 Busways bus to take him to Emerton. no bis arrived and he was left confused bewildered and stranded. Michelle advised him the nearest bus to Emerton is on the other side of Bulolo Drive which takes about 30 to 40minutes to get there with his elderly pace.

He has now been advised he doesn't have to walk that far from the 1st of march and wondered why his local member of parliament didn't write to him about deleted services. He forwards compliments to our group who fought for all people of Mount Druitt suburbs.

Blacktown City Council Notes For Gasmata Crescent

We provide you with the transcripts courteousy from the Black Topwn Ciuty Council - Business Arising:

File 56-1447-2

Cr Donaldson:
Through you Mr. Mayor, could I get advice from Council officers about the right-hand turn from Gasmata Crescent into Luxford Road.

Mayor:
Do you want to ask for a report.

Cr Donaldson:
Yes Mr Mayor, can I ask for a report on that right-hand turn and anything else that can be done to alleviate the problem at that intersection.

Mayor: this can be referred to the Local Traffic Committee.

Cr Donaldson: Thank You.

Community Member Heard From A Westbus Bus Driver They Are Providing Bus Service Along Gasmata Crescent

This afternoon, a community member came to me and advised that about 12noon last Thursday - he heard from a Westbus Bus Driver that buses will be going along Gasmata Crescent, yet didn't know which operators were going along there.

This sounded like our work we were doing in the field and community was working!

Allan Shearan Claims Gasmata As A Returned Bus service dated 23/2/2010 ( 8 days late)

Today Whalan residents have been rushed a letter from Allan Shearan (letter box drop- trying to be the messenger of the NSW Government.

It is amazing as this letter was dated 23rd February 2010 and he has kept it under his hat (if he wears one) since this period of time. he waited to make it a political decision. A decision that was made by him to remove services before( well he was well aware of it) as he had advised community members quietly. Now he has made an announcement that has not been confirmed as yet by anyone else including the Minister of Transport and Roads, the Gasmata Crescent bus service will return!

Well that is how politicians work - when they run scared they run and run everywhere! They are the ones saying 'I did it!' Of course they did it. They took the bus services away hoping that people of Mount Druitt wouldn't raise a voice! they underestimated the people of Mount Druitt suburbs - we are clever people, people that respect people that are severely affected by deleted services.

Then there was the keep your mouth quiet 'Westbus 674' along Bulolo Drive to say they are looking after the community - limited services! How often do you see Alan Shearan or Richard Amery on a bus around Mount Druitt - if you have it would be the same chances as winning Lotto!

Then there was the 'Don't turn up to all Community Meetings - I wasn't elected for that!' only 2 of them never turned up too! Yes Allan does care about the buses only after the bus were knowingly taken away!

According to the joint press release (more than a week old) - Gasmata crescent is Pending Safety issue - who do you believe the joint press release or Allan Shearan letter?

Also provided by Allan included in this letter was the Private Members Statement from NSW Parliament - which we had provide as a story before as per the following (late news):

Thursday, December 24, 2009
NSW State Government Notified

Also included was pretty much the same letter from Minister Campbell as per our preios story:

'People Power' Win For The Community - Save Our Bus Services - Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs

Let's all community members decide who agree to take the bus away from the community and then now is celegbating with arms open the return of the bus services. Which was orchestrated by the Save our Bus Services, Mt Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs group!

We Are Asking The Minister Of Transport And Roads For Follow Up Questions!

We have today request a progress report on the following:
Pending 674 Gasmata Crescent Bus service, Pending Sedghman Crescent extension to 755 bus route and whether there will be reduction of other services around Mount Druitt now this bus service of 755 has been introduced?

Although one patron has asked Busways Blacktown regarding the 758 service - they were informed this service will remain. Yet we require official confirmation!

We will let you know the progress report when it comes!

Save our Bus Services Group Meeting

Our Group will meet on 20th March 2010 to discuss the re-introduction of the 755 bus route - our wins and losses so far!

We will discuss strategy for the future as the Mount Druitt community has applauded all our efforts in what we have done for them!

Discussed will be reports from our representatives regarding the WSTUG meeting just recently held and future representations. We want to give a chance for everyone to come!

We will discuss future issues we will tackle as our job is not finished as yet!

More Accolades for 755 Bus Service

I can today safely say that I did catch the 755 bus today. What I mean is after yesterday it was a great feeling and speaking to a patron waiting for the bus today - he advised hadn't heard of the re-introduction of the bus service - yet his wife heard of it - he was very pleased.

Then there was the lady who I have known but not by name (but this is with all community members that know me and I not know their name), she hoped on the bus stop after mine and said, 'Thank you very much - my back will be better - I don't have to climb all those hills'! Again i replied if you signed the petition - you need to thank yourself!

Well Mr David Campbell, Minister of Transport and Roads - this proves that the services needs to stay for the good of the community

755 Time Table Issues

From one of our Group Members Angie, advised that the he time table means nothing for her as it doesn't show buses that are able to lower the buses and pick up disabled patrons that need to travel with strollers etc.

We will refer to the relevant authorities to look into it.

Not One Phone Call Or Contact From Members Of Local Government Or State Government To Us To Congratulate The Community!

It appears that if you are elected into office of Local Government or State Government - that is all you do - when it comes to a powerful community group lobbied or advocated for an one issue only for one cause 'the community' and your community wins - not one phone call is received to myself (or even an e-mail to us)to express satisfaction of what we had done on behalf of the community.

I understand a that there was expectation that all local councillors should be accredited as well as local state members should be credited but when the crunch came and someone had to stand up to all levels of government and stand up for the people - I was voluntarily asked. The only thought I had was only for our community. I am honoured to have such leadership and asked to have such leadership within our community - yet I share this leadership with Debbie and Joan - who have had more local community activity around our suburbs. I give my hat to them! They are the ones that represent the group and the community with ideas that got us to where the community wanted us to be!

We do thank Jacqueline Donaldson councilor for Blacktown City Council and Ray Williams, Hon. Member for Hawkesbury for their contributions right throughout our mission. We also thank Richard Amery Hon. Member for Mount Druitt and Allan Shearan Hon. Member for Londonderry, for turning up to the first community meeting out three we had and then never turning up to the other two Community meetings!

I also thank Allan Shearan stating that I personally made it political the meeting we had on 7/11/2009 - whith the opposition attending our meeting which you thought I invited to the meeting. I think Allan Shearan, that removing the buses from essential streets for the community was made politically and I had never personally invited the opposition to the 7th November Meeting and since have not had an apology for that comment. I remember Sonyia had explained to me that she confirmed to you Mr Williams invited himself to our meeting due to public newspaper reports. I don';t forget things but now I know politicians like make ridiculing comments and embarrassing me!

Busways New Bus Sevice 755 First Day-Different!

Today was the commencement of the re-introduced 755 bus service that was taken away after 43 years from the mount Druitt community.

I nearly lost my footings actually walking down to my bus stop at the corner of Ellengowan Crecent and Bulolo Road, Whalan. Yet I felt so happy that what was taken away was given back. I was eaely waiting for the 755 that reaches Popondetta Road and Luxford Road, Whalan at 6.14am ( according to the new time table leaflet of 1st March 2010). Wow 755 has it's own time table booklet/leaflet. It used to be in the same timetable booklet of 754,756,756G,757, 761 and 762.

Ah then approximately close to 6.20am a Busways bus - with the sign 'Busways' - that's right no 755 route number was nearing the stop - how sweet was this sound? Then the bus just drove past myself and didn't stop as I hand singled thew bus down. I waited another five minutes no other bus came on from the western side of Bulolo Drive and then the Bus service from Mount Druitt reach the other side of the road. The same thing no '755' bus route just 'Busways' sign on top!

I ended up walking to the end of Bulolo Drive and Luxford Road and caught the Westbus 780 bus. One lady asked wasn't i getting the 755 bus - advised it didn't stop for me this morning!

I got to work and before I started work rang the 131500 Infoline and reported the incident event number 5362945. was advised by Trish that they don't have infomation of where the bus stops of the 755 thus they couldn't help and will refer me to the bus operater 'Busways'. During a 9.30am break at work today rang 'Busways' spoke to a pleasant Joanne who went out of her way to assist me. She checked to see why the buses didn't have the 755 sign and advised there was a computer problem and the it wouldn't accept the route number and they are working to having it fixed as soon as possable during the morning. Regarding the bus not picking me up - was advised will refer to that particular bus driver.

Besides all this, I am happy to catch the 755 bus service today and better as it was before - we will need to ask for further changes (on this bus route), but this we will request as a group when we have our next meeting! I'm am pretty sure the community now trusts us to get the job done! Thank you Community!
