Although, a submission has been made by a representative of Westbus and Ministry of Transport to Blacktown Council, it appears the Blacktown is not in touch with the community of Mount Druitt when a submission from our group for a bus service was knocked back. JCounciloor Jacqueline iomaldson has put through our proposal and the governing members of the Blacktown City Council were the ones that refused it.
Meeting 20/2/10 - Fight On! ) that has been approved - we feel that there could be safety issues with buses travelling along west of Samarai Road and Moresby Crescent - two buses may find very difficult to pass each other. Although Safety has been looked at by the bus operaters and Ministry of Transport as Allan Shearan had a walk with these representatives - he didn't seem to talk to us and ask for our thoughts. In fact he has turned away from us for quite a long time.
We don't deny that it will provide transport coverage for the residents that used to walk over 400 metres to the nearest bus stop. I have seen children play cricket on Moresby Crescent ( when I drove past one time), so I hope this doesn't create a safety issue in the future. That will up to the residents to ensure all children are safe whilst buses are travelling up and down.
We will be referring to our 5 representatives that we have in our group representing Gasmata area to provide feedback to us within the next few months and that we will use our submission as a backup for next bus review as the bus route 674 in Gasmata is reviewed for 6 months starting as from 27/4/10.

Allan Shearan Claims Gasmata As A Returned Bus service dated 23/2/2010 ( 8 days late)
Today Whalan residents have been rushed a letter from Allan Shearan (letter box drop- trying to be the messenger of the NSW Government.
It is amazing as this letter was dated 23rd February 2010 and he has kept it under his hat (if he wears one) since this period of time. he waited to make it a political decision. A decision that was made by him to remove services before( well he was well aware of it) as he had advised community members quietly. Now he has made an announcement that has not been confirmed as yet by anyone else including the Minister of Transport and Roads, the Gasmata Crescent bus service will return!
Well that is how politicians work - when they run scared they run and run everywhere! They are the ones saying 'I did it!' Of course they did it. They took the bus services away hoping that people of Mount Druitt wouldn't raise a voice! they underestimated the people of Mount Druitt suburbs - we are clever people, people that respect people that are severely affected by deleted services.
Then there was the keep your mouth quiet 'Westbus 674' along Bulolo Drive to say they are looking after the community - limited services! How often do you see Alan Shearan or Richard Amery on a bus around Mount Druitt - if you have it would be the same chances as winning Lotto!
Then there was the 'Don't turn up to all Community Meetings - I wasn't elected for that!' only 2 of them never turned up too! Yes Allan does care about the buses only after the bus were knowingly taken away!
According to the joint press release (more than a week old) - Gasmata crescent is Pending Safety issue - who do you believe the joint press release or Allan Shearan letter?
Also provided by Allan included in this letter was the Private Members Statement from NSW Parliament - which we had provide as a story before as per the following (late news):

The People Power Over Local Members
Normally people power over local members happens in the ballot box on any election day.If community members are happy with their local members they will vote tfor them, if not they will vote against them (and itf they voted for them before: this is the swinging voter).
Children have report cards and Higher School Certificates that establishes their progress, every day workers that Personal Development Reviews (PDR's) and members of any parliament have the elections to office.
Yet what has transpired within our community is somewhat of a miracle! Community members in December thought we were a lost cause, some of our group members thought we were a lost cause - somewhere in my heart I was prepared for the long haul, I didn't want to give up as all I would hear is all these sad reality stories of everyday life community members. I don't anything personal out of this this I just wanted to see these sad faces turn into everyday happy faces. This is what we all desire in in each and every life - yet for some when things are taken away from they which affects all - it is hard for just one person to complain.
So I have done, what I have said is said by the people of Mount Druid and for the people of Mount Druitt.
Why did we get the 755 bus service back is quickly a few things: persistence, patience and people desire for need of taken away services. Our population increases, we have new suburbs, so why take any services from small streets?
We also have good quality group members that represented their suburbs:to each and every one of them i thank personally, they are the ones that represent the beuatiful community members that we are fighting for returned services. We are not finished and we all need to hold the complete Mount Druitt Flag for buses. We will get there!

Promoting New And Revamped 755 Bus Services And Gasmatta Service
Yesterday morning I caught the Westbus 780. My plan was to hold the 2 page document from the Minister of Transport and infrastructure had provided to us the day before inclusive of the new bus route, advise the patrons on travelling on the bus, so that
the word van be spread.
I have always found word of month is the cheapest and fastest way of spreading the word. As soon as I entered the bus my prepared announcement went quite, Well the patrons were quiet! The bus continued on its travel reach reached the bus stop opposite Gasmatta Crescent, three patrons entered the bus 8 one lady sat down opposite and then I found this was my golden opportunity. I asked her if she lived around Gasmatta Crescent, she nodded her head as positive. I then explained that her bus will be re-introduced as 674 Westbus Service pending confirmation of previous safety concerns of drivers has been addressed. I advised her she was the first Gasmatta community told about on the bus and advised her to let everyone she knows about it and to contact Westbus for further information.
A nearby lady patron asked about the '755' bus service and in such excitement and with a smile I confirmed that it is coming back - she was so delighted explained how she lived near West of Popondetta Road and how that service was a necessity service as we left the bus at Mount Druitt people were having smiles on their faces.
I reach the turnstiles at the top of Mount Druitt Station, approached the station assistant who has the PA microphone and asked if he could announce that our 755 bus service are back. He said do you have scripting for this - I answered as 'No' - being unprepared for this. He then referred and passed the PA microphone and asked me to announce it myself. I pressed the green button and hear i went!
Normally passengers on trains would here late announcements, prompting message regarding smoking no bicycle riding on platforms and next train due details. I straight away announced 'Good Morning everyone, I am John the chairperson from Mount Druit Save Our Bus Services, we would kike to advise that anyone that caught the bus route 755 in Mount Druitt that it is being re-introduced as from 1st March and to contact Busways for timetables and further information. For the residents living near Gasmatta Crescent your bus will be return - contact Westbus for further information, thank you very as this was won by the people of Mount Druitt'.
I then turned my head around saw that the Station Master was at the office window with his staff member and I gave him a generous and warm 'thumbs up' and he return with a cheerful smile. I think 200 people waiting on the platform were half-asleep would have been woken up by now.
I went to the usual spot that I enter on the platform and lo and behold t5he lady that was happy regarding the bus services along west of Popondetta Road was there and she had confirmed she heard myself make the Announcement on the PAS and said she just finished texting her sister at Bidwill the good news. Well not just word of mouth but text of phone helps as well.
In the afternoon I arrived at the 758 Stand which had a queue of patrons waiting for the bus and announced to everyone of the 755 bus service - some people were stunned, in disbelief and mostly thanking me - which I profoundly refused and said it is all of you who signed petitions - these people will spread the word and I suggested to ask the bus driver for time table details. We asked our driver he didn't have as yet -p and asked him to mention to the bus depot that we require it.
This above story reflects the story that I had published on 30/12/09 - 'Year of Save Our Bus Services Mount Druitt 2010! This result pretty much confirms that we need to stand up for the community and be counted for the community and with the zcommunity.

'People Power' Win For The Community - Save Our Bus Services - Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs
Today, the people of Mount Druitt have fought a long and hard battle by themselves to have one service that was a major service retuirn with minor adjustments. This will be a great service, especially that if covers quite a few streets that bus services were removed from. Although this is one bus service we will not give up with others - we will assess the service 2-3 weeks after. Obtain feedback from our group and push forward for left over servivces that need to be restored that were removed.
Al lot of people said we will never get the buses back the NSW Government will not listen to us - I think it has been everything that that got the buses back from petitions, to videos made, to 3 Community Meeting held and about 4-5 group meetings held.
We are unable to place a copy of the proposed bus route may but should you require one - e-mail us and we will porovide to yourself within 24 hours or contact Busways.
Oh, I thought I'd say the Gasmatta residents will be happy as well - they were on the ones worse affected!
We now provide the letter received by us From the NSW Minister of Transport:
Dear Debbie,
In response to the concerns of your local Members of Parliament, Allan Shearan and Richard Amery, and following a meeting with yourself and other community members on the 28 January, I am writing to let you know that improvements will be made to bus services in your area from 1 March 2010.
As I communicated at our meeting, changes to a number of bus routes were made to benefit the majority of people in the community, and to attract more people to public transport. Whilst several concerns were responded to immediately, after representations from Allan Shearan and Richard Amery, at our recent meeting I made a commitment to look into a number of other outstanding issues.
NSW Transport and Infrastructure has worked with Busways and Westbus to look at the concerns of local residents. The largest areas of community concern appear to be the loss of connections previously provided on the 755, a decreased level of service in Bulolo Drive itself, the removal of some services from Sedgman Drive due to safety concerns from drivers, and walking distances in Gasmata Cres.
I am pleased to inform you that from 1 March 2010 the 755 will be restored to many of the areas where long standing links had been broken. The 755 will run along its old route between Luxford Road at Shalvey and Mount Druitt with the following frequencies:
Weekdays: 5 am to 10 pm, with a bus every half an hour between 6 am and 8 pm, and every hour at other times;
Saturdays: 6 am to 8 pm, with a service every half an hour between 9 am and 5 pm and every hour at other times; and
Sundays: hourly between 9 am and 5 pm.
Between 9 am and 5 pm on Monday to Saturday, every second trip will be extended from Luxford Road at Shalvey to Plumpton Marketplace.
The new service will restore links to Emerton Village and provide a frequent bus service to Bulolo Drive. For workers needing to travel before 5 am alternative services are available in many of the same streets, or very nearby, on routes 750, 758 and 759.
Manifold Road and Middleton Crescent, which used to be served by the 762, will also have services restored by Route 755.
We have also approved a re-diversion of Route 674 down Gasmata Crescent, pending confirmation from Westbus that the previous safety concerns of drivers have been addressed. This route would operate all trips via Gasmata Crescent, except for one trip in the morning in each direction on school days, when it is needed to make diversions to schools along its route.
New timetables will be available before these services commence.
It is intended to restore services to residents at the western end of Sedgman Crescent once safety concerns for passengers and drivers are resolved. I understand that Busways and Blacktown Council are working together to improve lighting and the pedestrian underpasses to allow bus services back into this end of Sedgman Crescent. In the meantime, residents at the western end of Sedgman Crescent and surrounding streets can catch the 758, which runs every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays at Luxford Road, Emerson Street or at the eastern end of Sedgman Crescent.
I thank you for bringing these concerns to my attention, both individually and through your local Members of Parliament. If you require further information about these changes, I invite you to contact Busways Customer Service on (02) 9625 8900.
Yours sincerely
David Campbell MP
