Beresford Bourman (Allan), Save Our Bus Services, Mount Druitt and Surrounding Suburbs has advised that due to the deletion of the Busways 761/762 on Manifold Road, Blackett community members have to walk an extra average 18 minutes extra to obtain bus on Carlisle Avenue Blackett.
One of the elderly community members can not walk the extra distance, to obtain buses now at Carlisle Avenue and now requirs her daughter whom lives twenty kilometres away to take her to Mount Druitt for shopping. I thought we want to encourage people to catch buses!
It has been reported the 2 bus stops signs have been removed , yet 2 bus shelters remain. There is a school bus that goes along Manifold Road during school days to pick up school children, since the new time tables have been implemented 11/10/09. So, if buses can drive through streets to pick up school children why can't they also pick up every day commuters - where is the common sense is this? Where was the community consultation in this situation? Why weren't the local community members informed? Why didn't the State members of Parliament do a letter box drop or door knock to advise these community members (as well as other community members all around Mount Druitt) of these deletion of services?
Yes the NSW Government will advise you of the Community Forums that were held were for the 'micro' communities to be informed - this is the result of this feedback from the forums!
