Despite the unpredictable weather today over 30 people came to Dawson Mall for an update on Save Our Bus Services campaign. After hearing another gut wrenching story from Helen a local resident with multiple health problems and how she had to walk for over an hour to get back home from her appointment with her doctor it has made everyone more determined to continue on and step up the pressure.
Have contacted Busways for a meeting with S.O.B.S about new services and reply is below.
Dear Debbie
Thanks for your email enquiry.
Members of Save Our Bus Services met with representatives from the Minister for Transport’s office last Thursday. At this meeting, they outlined the concerns of SOBS members in relation to services in Mt Druitt and surrounding suburbs and presented a large volume of written information. Busways is working with NSW Transport and Infrastructure to analyse this data for consideration by the Minister, and once this is complete, SOBS will be advised of the outcome. I understand that the Minister undertook to get back to SOBS within a fortnight.
Even though the Minister will be advising us of the outcome within the fortnight we are still pushing on. Our plan is to contact the TV stations this week and Ray Williams – who incidentally attended meeting today of his own accord - has offered to assist with that. We have also been in contact with A Current Affair, we’ll be ringing radio stations and writing letters to papers including The Herald and Telegraph. So as you can see we are not going to wait around and do nothing.
Again big thank you to everyone for their wonderful support and input.
Together we CAN and ARE making a difference!!
