Our Group member Valerie from Tregear was surprised that we didn't have any group members representing Tregear so far and she has placed her hand to join our group.
she explained that there are hundred of residents not happy with the bus services, especially living in the middle of Tregear. She advised that a lot of residents are elderly and could not make it to our Save Our Bus Services Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs Community meeting 6/2/10 at 10.30am.
It has been told to me that a lot of residents within Tregear are frustrated with what has happened with the bus services and onl;y talking about it amongst themselves. Their issue is like Valerie issue and tat where she lives to catch the bus to Mount Druitt she used to get onto Ellsworth Drive and get a direct bus to Mount Druitt via Whalan - this used to take 10 minute walk - she now has to go to Hatherton Road - approx 20 minutes walk and catch now does the tour of Mount Druitt (Busways 758) suburbs via Lethbridge Park, Shalvey, Bidwill, Blackett, Dharruk/Emerton, Whalan and then Mount Druitt. It could be a 40 minute trip to Mount Druitt sometimes.
Her other choice is walk to Luxford Road which may talk 30 minutes and get a West bus 780 from there directly. Now because of the new bus services being introduced - it a partial reason has contributed in her selling her house and moving outside Mount Druitt to be closer to members of her family and better transport: her house is now on the market. Thank you NSW Government for partially contributing towards residents moving out of the area!
We feel for the community members of Tregear and we understand their silence to us so far. They are affetced just like other areas are affected - they want the old time time tables restored prior to 11/1/2009!
