Angie from Shalvey has provide us with her response to the revised bus service that has been introduced - basically not affecting directly in her area and not a direct trip to Blacktown. We as a group will raise Angie's concerns as well as other at our next group meeting and we all decide what action will be taken from there - I want to say that we will still bat for your area Angie and all the residents of Shalvey that are affected! That you for allowing us to use your letter
Dear Mr Campbell,
I feel that the propposed changes will offer nothing to the Shalvey Residents in regards to the service you now are offering.
I am the lady that was present at your meeting and as you made it very clear then that Shalvey will not be getting a bus service because of rock throwing. I was also the lady that in the disk that was left at your office had to walk across paddocks weither I went to Willmot, or the full length of Shalvey to try to access a bus that somehow you think is OK.
I have now started back at Tafe at Mt Druitt to study Mental Health. My course starts at 9am and getting a bus at Willmot ( I have to push a stroller because of the uneven ground and my computer scanner plus books-vision impairment, and a backpack with a nebulizer for breathing problems-allergic reactions), the bus with access for stroller leaves at 8.31am and gets to Mt Druitt 9.05am. I am now late for class as I do not arrive till about 9.20 after walking the full length of Mt Druitt campass.
They talk about climate change and getting people back on buses and out of cars-cut down pollution, and also people back into study and the work force. Well none of this is possible with the way you are running the buses.
Shalvey is entitled to a bus service that was in place before your backward changes, to a service that covered the suburbs the commuters need in a timely manner to get them to were they need to be "on time".
I do not feel that whatever has to be said by the commuters, or Ministers speaking on our behalf will be taken seriously by you or your department. We invited you out to see the problems first hand to which you were very quick to tell the people at the meeting that was not possible, you would send someone else.
Lead by example, get out in the field and actually see that the comuters have genuine greavances and are not going to go away because you think they will get used to the new bus routes, and timetables the longer you stall.
I would like to think that this matter would be given your serious attention, with you actually personally coming to out to the Shalvey area and surrounding suburbs. I would be pleased to give you a guided tour.
yours sincerely
Angie ( other names withheld
