We have two conflicting details that have been provided to us from Phill, Westbus Assistanat manager, Windsor.
AS we are fighting to get the Gasmata bus back into service, it is funny how we have had two different stories told to us. He advised myself he had done a risk assessment and at Gsasmata Crescent and the right turn from Gasmata Crescent to Luxford is a 'blind spot' for the drivers. apparently this is after 36 years of bus service. When I mentioned this to him he said the cars past across Gasmata faster. I suggested that Westbus meet with the community and discuss this issue and any other safety issues - he said Westbus would not do that - then I suggested the when bus reviews are in that a group like ours could be involved in the bus review panel. He then said that would be pending his managements advice. He didn't mention to be that when he did a risk assessment that there was issues with stone throwing.
To Debbie on a separate phone call made,'No matter what, drivers don't want to go in Gasmata Crescent!'
Yesterday he advised the decision will be made today and then he advise his managers are talking to the Minister of Transport they will make the final decision. When asked if the Department of Transport and Infrastructure is involved in the decision process he said doesn't know. Phill complained about 4 to 5 community members ringing him about the services today - he was unhappy as he said it stopped him working. My reply was that was good as it shows the level of community interest. Anyway, Westbus stopped the buses - so if we stop him from working that is nothing -he works for the Company and the company is heavily subsidised by the NSW Government, there he has a duty to respond and cater for public interest needs.
If a Westbus representative says that Westbus will not come down to a community meeting to resolve issues - what does that tell you!
