I am generally a compassionate person and I am disturbed by the way the Mount Druitt community - has been 'swept under the carpet' by the NSW Government.
They must have thought when they introduced the new time tables of 11/10/2009, that Mount Druitt would not complain about severely affecting the bus community. I can't imagine the Local members of Londonderry and Mount Druitt not knowing of the changes that were implemented. Didn't they talk to the Ministry of Transport or even the minister of transport and infrastructure. Politicians they do talk - that is what we pay them to do. Did they talk to the local community through Community Action Groups - I believe not! Did they place an item in their glossy letter-box dropped electorate magazine - not a thing! Did they discuss within their rank and members of their party - I guess not!
We elect members of parliament to support the majority of the community, the majority of the bus transport community was not supported by the local state members. Yes they started to jump up and down when we rang the alarm bells but bow as our alrm bells are being heard in many places they appear to be hiding - not one phone call from either member to provide support this year! have they given up on us or do they not like the publicity that they have created representing the NSW Government?
My phone to them is available, for them to call up and yet not one sound, our e-mail is available to them - not one e-mail (this year)! Our website allows them to make comments - not one word! Yet, they are paid to talk and support - will we hear from them when we win! Will they want to be on the front pages of newspapers saying they are the ones getting the buses back for our Community?
We hear rumours that Mr Richard Amery Hon. Member for Mount Druitt is retiring at next State election, so will he bat for his community before leaves the field? Yrs we know that both State members are whispering in the Minister of Transports ears -they seem like they maybe falling if deafening ears!
There is a lot of dissatisfaction around the community as there has been a quick response from the NSW Government so far - Our Understanding of Government is that the Minister of Transport if he really wanted would have introduced the removed services at a flick of his fingers, seal by the stroke of his own! he must be looking for the right pen so far!
In fact instead of taking away services from the community the NSW Government should be increasing services as the population grows - making services easier and better for all involved - Come to think of it do our current local members of parliament catches buses ? if not, maybe they should try to catch every bus and see how they end up!
I know it cost $400,000 per year to run a bus service along one route for each bus - I'm sure that patrons more than pay for this service per annum and deserve the best bus services infrastructure every - infact when the Government provides their decision just keep in mind that the bus services you do not re-instate there are hundreds of unhappy community member's and we will always continue our fight for them.
