Joint Media Release From Richard Amery,MP And Allan Shearan,MP

The press release from both Richard Amery, mp and Allan Shearan, mp comes after hard works that the Save Our Bus Services, Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs, main steering committee, group members, the receptive community members as well as small business and community organisations that have back our group up as a passionate supportive group towards the community.

In the press release they do not acknowledge our group directly(I personally don't want accolades), the importance of our group that worked without politicians advice or assistance after 7th November 2010 against local politicians and made the people go the meet the minister with the petitions and the recommendations as per petition.

We understand they were whispering in the ear of Mr. David Campbell (Hon. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure), but they did nothing prior to us petitioning until they both turned up at the First community meeting we had on the 7th November 2009 and they promised they would be at the next community meeting - both didn't turn up - neither did any of their representatives.

Anyway here is there glorified joint Media Press Release:

BUS SERVICES ARE BACK

Allan Shearan, Member for Londonderry and Richard Amery, Member for Mount Druitt announced today the bus services in Whalan, Emerton, Lethbridge Park, Shalvey, Bidwill and Blackett have been either reinstated or altered.

Allan Shearan and Richard Amery said that they had listened to residents concerns and had made strong representations to David Campbell, the Minister for Transport and Roads to improve services to residents particularly where safety concerns were an issue.

"I was very concern at the loss of connection between some areas which meant longer walking distances particularly for the elderly", Allan Shearan said.

"It is important that a suitable bus service be provided inareas where residents rely heavily on piublic transport," Mr Amery said.

Mr Amery and Mr Shearan both paid tribute to the many residents who brought to their attention, the impact of the new bus route changes.they both acknowledged that the persistence and quick response by the residents were, no doubt, the major treason why the Minister was able to make these changes so quickly.

The following changes have been made.

Route 755 will be restored to many of the areas where long standing links had been broken. The 755 will run along its old route between Luxford Road at Shalvey and Mount Druitt with the following frequencies:

Weekdays: 5 am to 10 pm, with a bus every half an hour between 6 am and 8 pm, and every hour at other times;

Saturdays: 6 am to 8 pm, with a service every half an hour between 9 am and 5 pm and every hour at other times; and

Sundays: hourly between 9 am and 5 pm.

Between 9 am and 5 pm on Monday to Saturday, every second trip will be extended from Luxford Road at Shalvey to Plumpton Marketplace.

This service will also restore links to Emerton Village and provide a frequent bus service to Bulolo Drive. Another important feature of the new Route 755 will be the restoration of services to Manifold Road and Middleton C

Route 764 will now be diverted down Gasmata Crescent if driver safety concerns have been resolved. One trip along Route 674 each morning on school days, will be excluded from Gasmata Crescent for school set downs.

When safety concerns for both residents and drivers are resolved to restore services to residents at the western end of Sedgman Crescent.

David Campbell, Minister for Transport and Roads said that the Keneally Government had worked with Busways and Westbus to look at the concerns of local residents.

'The representations and views of Richard Amery, Member for Mount Druitt and Allan Shearan, Member for Londonderry, were important in achieving change,"Minister Campbell said,

The changes to the bus routes will take effect from 1 March 2010. New Bus timetables will be available before these services commence.

A map showing the new bus route is attached.
